Volunteering with us
Passionate about making change in the world? Want to put your skills to work in a dynamic developing world environment?
We welcome volunteers from all over the world. In addition to assisting with our own projects, we place volunteers with trusted local NGOs. Here’s what we provide to our volunteers:
Initial consultations to understand your goals, strengths and skills.
Support with applying for the necessary government permits to come and volunteer here.
Placements in NGOs where you’ll be able to put your skills to use helping teach classes, work on health projects, or design new initiatives for the NGO.
Assistance finding low-cost housing options. Iringa is a cheap city to live in, making your volunteer work affordable.
Amazing experiences. You’ll spend your days working to develop sustainable agriculture, design water filtration systems for villages, and help communities build sustainable support systems.
Here’s what we expect of our volunteers:
A firm time commitment of at least 6 months. We would prefer a year or more. It takes time to get settled here, learn the ins and outs of our work, and get up and running.
Tangible skill(s) to use while you’re here. There is a lot of volun-tourism in the developed world these days and we’re wary of that. Volunteering is about providing something to a community, not taking from it. We ask that you bring something tangible to the table that you intend to provide to the communities you’ll serve.
A professional and friendly approach to the work you’ll do here. We expect all of our volunteers to be ethical and professional in their behavior while they’re working with us.
