Variable-Length Ruaha Safaris

We offer variable length Ruaha safaris. Our most popular Ruaha-only safari is a 2-day, 1 night adventure. For example purposes, this itinerary is listed below.

Day 1

It’s an early start today, as we head for the park in the early morning to get you the maximum amount of time in the park.

Morning: We’ll pick you up at the airport or your hotel, before setting off to Ruaha.

It’s about a 2.5 hour drive to the park. We’ll arrive at the Ruaha gate around 10am and complete check-in formalities there.

After entering the park, we’ll do a morning game drive enroute to our accommodation for the night. Lunch will be at your accommodation.

Afternoon: After lunch, you’ll head back out for another half-day game drive (approx. 4 hours). As the sun sets, you’ll head back to camp.

You’ll have dinner back at camp, before retiring to your lodgings for the night.

Day 2

A sunrise drive today provides the best opportunities for seeing some of the rarer animals in Ruaha, before you head back to town.

Morning: You’ll be up early for a sunrise drive across Ruaha’s vast expanses. This early drive provides some of the best opportunities for seeing wildlife. After your early start, you’ll return to camp for breakfast.

After you finish breakfast, it’s time to pack up and head for the park gate. To maximize your time in the park, you’ll continue to game drive as you head for the exit.

Exiting the park, you’ll head back to Iringa, arriving in time for lunch.

Additional Days

Adding additional days to your Ruaha itinerary gives you the chance to see more of this enormous park (it’s impossible to see it all, even on long, multi-day safaris). You may also move to different camps, depending on the amount of time you have and your budget.

Additional Days in Ruaha will usually run as follows:

Morning: After breakfast, you’ll head out for a full day game drive across the park. With a packed lunch, you can roam much further from camp than you could if you had to return for lunch. Your guide will take you deep into the park, helping you to see less commonly seen species of animals.

You’ll enjoy your packed lunch at one of the many picnic sites scattered throughout the park.

Afternoon: You’ll continue your game drive late into the afternoon, before heading back to camp for dinner and rest.
