9-Day Complete Southern Circuit
Day 1
Your first day is spent mostly in transit, with the chance to see wildlife on a game drive in the evening.
Morning: We’ll pick you up at the airport or your hotel, before setting off to Mikumi.
You’ll enjoy a packed lunch on the road to the park.
Afternoon: After arriving at camp in the early afternoon (depending on traffic), you’ll drop your stuff and head out for an evening game drive.
You’ll have dinner back at camp, before retiring to your lodgings for the night.

Day 2
Today is a mixture of travel and wildlife viewing.
Morning: You’ll start with a sunrise game drive in Mikumi, before enjoying breakfast back at camp. After breakfast, we’ll hit the road to Iringa.
You’ll enjoy lunch in Iringa town, a beautiful and historic hill town and the region’s capital.
Afternoon: You’ll continue to Ruaha National Park, the largest national park in Tanzania (larger than the US State of Massachusetts!)
After a long day of travel, you’ll enjoy a leisurely dinner at camp, before retiring for the night.

Day 3
You’ll get a chance to orient yourself to Ruaha today.
Morning/Afternoon: You’ll head out for an early game drive, taking a packed lunch with you. The packed lunch gives you the chance to go further into the park and see rarer animals. Ruaha is known for it’s enormous population of elephants, which are a common sight throughout the park.
After a full day’s game drive, you’ll return to camp for dinner and a good night’s rest!

After your orientation to Ruaha yesterday, today gives you the chance the become more intimately acquainted with the park.
Morning: It’s an early start in camp, as you head out around 6:30am for a walking safari. Accompanied by armed rangers, you’ll get to experience the reserve in an entirely new light. After your walking safari, you’ll head back to camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, you’ll have time to rest and relax after the early start. You’ll eat lunch in camp, then head out for an afternoon game drive through areas of the park you haven’t explored before.
Dinner will again be at camp.

Day 4
If there’s an animal you haven’t seen yet, today will give you the chance to see it as you again venture out into the heart of Ruaha.
Morning/Afternoon: You’ll head out for a full game drive, taking a packed lunch with you. Your guide will take you into new areas of the park that you haven’t yet had the chance to visit
After a full day’s game drive, you’ll return to camp for dinner and a good night’s rest!

Day 5
We head to Udzungwa today, so it’s a bit of a transition day. You’ll get to enjoy the varied landscapes of the Southern Highlands on the way.
Morning: After breakfast, you’ll pack up and exit the park, driving back to Iringa. A brief pit-stop in Iringa will give you the chance to see the town and explore a couple of it’s unique businesses.
Afternoon: After lunch, you’ll hit the road again and head to Udzungwa National Park. After checking in to your camp, you’ll have just enough time for dinner before it’s time for bed.

Day 6
You have the opportunity to see the highest waterfall in Tanzania today, which is a sight that relatively few tourists get to see.
Morning: After breakfast, you’ll check-in at park headquarters, then drive to Sanje Falls. It’s a semi-strenuous hike to the top, but there’s no time limit and your guide will give you plenty of opportunities to catch your breath as they describe the beautiful flora and fauna of the Udzungwa Mountains.
Afternoon: You’ll have a picnic lunch at the top, followed by the chance to go for swims in the pools both at the top of the waterfall and the bottom. These natural pools are beautiful!
In the evening, you’ll head back to the camp for dinner and rest.

Day 7
We’ll switch gears today and give you the opportunity to learn about Tanzanian culture. Tanzanians are extremely gracious hosts and are proud of their beautiful culture.
Morning: After breakfast, you’ll head to Mang’ula Village, where you’ll take a tour, while learning about Tanzanian customs, rituals, and daily life. You’ll return to camp for lunch and a rest.
Afternoon: You’ll head out to the village again in the late afternoon for local dancing and an evening market. You’ll have the chance to try traditional Tanzanian dishes as well!

Day 8
After this amazing adventure, it’s sadly time to part ways. Today is a transition day, as you head back to Dar.
Morning: After a leisurely breakfast, where you can soak in the final moments of Udzungwa, you’ll pack up and hit the road back to Dar.
The remainder of the morning and early afternoon will be spent in transit back to Dar. We will drop you at your hotel, the airport, or the ferry terminal, whichever you prefer.
