Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

5-Day North-South/South-North Transition Safari

The below itinerary is written in the South—>North direction, starting in Iringa and ending in Arusha/KIA.

The same itinerary can be done in reverse if you wish to travel in the opposite direction.

Day 1

Your first day is spent mostly in transit, with a brief stop in Dodoma to see a little bit of Tanzania’s capital city.

Morning: We’ll pick you up at the airport or your hotel, before setting off to the north.

We’ll stop in Dodoma for lunch. Dodoma is the purpose-built capital city of Tanzania, created by the country’s founder, Julius Nyerere. It’s the seat of Tanzania’s parliament and is an interesting stop on your journey north.

Afternoon: After taking in Dodoma, you’ll continue north to Kondoa, arriving in the late afternoon.

You’ll have dinner at camp, before retiring to your lodgings for the night.

Included Meals: Lunch/Dinner

Day 2

Today gives you the opportunity to see a unique part of Tanzania’s history.

Morning: You’ll start with breakfast in camp, then head out to see the incredible Kondoa Rock Paintings. Dating back to nearly 50,000 years ago, these rock paintings are an amazing site to take in.

You’ll enjoy a packed lunch at a picnic site near the paintings.

Afternoon: After lunch, you’ll head north again, driving to Tarangire National Park. Arriving in the late afternoon, you’ll have some down-time in camp before dinner.

You’ll again enjoy a leisurely dinner at camp, before retiring for the night.

Included Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

Day 3

Today, you’ll head out to explore Tarangire National Park.

Morning/Afternoon: You’ll head out early for a full day game drive. You’ll stop for a packed lunch on the way and take in the amazing vistas of Tarangire National Park.

After a full day in the park, you’ll head back to camp for dinner and a good night’s rest!

Included Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

After the sparse, dry environment of Tarangire, you’ll have the opportunity to experience Lake Manyara National Park today—a much wetter landscape that allows for excellent wildlife viewing (the park has an enormous number of hippos!)

Morning: After breakfast, you’ll get in the car and drive over to Lake Manyara National Park. You’ll stop for a packed lunch on the way, or just after you arrive at the park.

Afternoon: You’ll spend the afternoon exploring Lake Manyara National Park. The park is composed of open wetlands and dense forest.

The night will be spent at a camp in or near the park.

Included Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

Day 4

After an amazing adventure, it’s time to head on to Arusha.

Morning: You’ll head out early for a sunrise morning game drive in Lake Manyara for your final wildlife viewing. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast back at camp. If time permits, you’ll go out on another game drive before lunch. Lunch will be served as you leave the park.

The remainder of the morning and early afternoon will be spent in transit to Arusha. We’ll drop you at your hotel in Arusha or at Kilimanjaro Airport, whichever you prefer.

Included Meals: Breakfast/Lunch
